“Elaine” modeled for my live demo at the Berks Art Alliance.
It was such a bonus having a professional model posing! I could have painted her in ten exceptional poses, choosing this stylish three-quarters view, sporting a derby in honor of her father.
The experience was enhanced by the intimacy of the black box theater at the Yokum Institute.
This situation allows other artists a window into how I think of approaching a subject, explaining the reason behind brushstrokes and placement of color.
“Thom” was the model for this alla prima oil painting on copper, 8” x 10”.
Posing at the bottom of the stairs at nighttime created this striking silhouette of warm, greenish glow with backlighting. I normally paint in natural daylight, but this effect made for quite an interesting study.
